Taking time to observe

Exploring the natural world...we spent more than an hour with this little caterpillar today...if only we took time like this each day...there is much to be learned from the simple acts of observation and reflection, and children are the ones to teach us, slow us down.

Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods, helped to found The Children and Nature Network - an organization linking researchers, educators, families and community groups to reconnect children and nature.  Louv has a new book geared toward adults, called The Nature Principle.  In this book his premise is that we are entering the most creative period in history, the era of human restoration in the natural world. He offers renewed optimism while challenging us to rethink the way we live.
