Thanks to all who came out to our 10th annual Handmade Holiday Sale last weekend.  What a great crowd, sunny snowy weather, amazing vendors with lovely handmade wares.  So much goodness, from herbal soaps, to beeswax candles, organic gingerbread and cupcakes, hand-dyed yarns, beautiful pottery, intricate macrame decor, healing teas, hand-tooled wooden wallets, wood-turned spoons & honey dippers, local authored children's books, luscious vegan fudge, cozy woolen clothing...plus kids area with pinecone birdseed feeders and tiny twig gnomes...

Plant-inspired Solstice lanterns!

Happy soon-to-be longest night everyone! 

We are preparing for the winter Solstice with our herbal mother-daughter group this week, by making plant-inspired lanterns.  The simplest form is leaf and flower shapes punched into tin cans; the next is pressed leaves modge-podged onto glass mason jars - lovely!  The last is seen here, a slightly more elaborate lantern made with a twig frame (in our case grape vine) and pressed leaf "window" panes to let the candlelight through.  So beautiful!  There are many easy DIY lantern ideas out there, the best I think is using materials you already have around the garden or home.  Happy Solstice!

Handmade holiday sale - snowy festive night!

What a beautiful festive night, with our first real snowfall making it all feel so wintery and magical.  Thanks to all of you who dropped by our sale, and the talented artisans who provided such lovely thoughtfully handmade goods to purchase and who braved the cold weather at our outdoor sale!  We wish you all a warm and happy December!

The line-up of vendors is exciting, with 10+ unique vendors making lovely handmade goods.  It's especially unique as each vendor tries their best to focus on eco-conscious goods, using organic, natural and upcycled materials in their work.  You'll find everything from home goods for the kitchen, to clothing, to woolen slippers, to toys and lanterns, to soaps and botanicals, to baked goods and chocolate truffles.

Esther produces a simple range of functional pottery intended for everyday use in your home such as cups, bowls, espresso and wine cups, milk pitchers and serving pieces.  An active member of the Waterloo Potters' Workshop, Esther has been making pottery for some time.  Pieces range from porcelain to stoneware.  Recently Esther has been pulled back to reduction fired shino glaze, but you will still find a variety of other glazes like celedon, satin white and blue in her range. Also new this year - ceramic kraut making crocks!
